The NHSRA Junior High Division was created in 2004 and was established to bring the excitment of the sport to 6th, 7th and 8th graders and to serve as a feeder sytem into the high school ranks of the Association. Today, all 47 states and provinces that belong to the NHSRA also have a Junior High Division as well, with over 2,500 members in total now competing. Junior High Division contestants compete in a variety of events, including Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Breakaway Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Chute Dogging, Team Roping, Ribbon Roping and Junior Bull Riding.
Each summer, the "best of the best" from each state and province qualify for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo. Approximately 900 competitors show off their talents in the event and compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes. Since the first Junior High Finals was held in 2005, Gallup, New Mexico has served as the host site

Jr. High ResultsThe Jr. High board approved 3 fall rodeos and 2 spring rodeos. The spring rodeos will be announced at a later date as well as when/where the state finals will be. The board also approved to count 70% of the rodeos. What that means is that there will be a maximum of 70 points from 7 rodeos that you will be able to carry into finals. Scores from finals are not eligible to be dropped. |
