for the exact date.

At the rodeos there
will be an entry notebook that you can enter all of the rodeos you will be attending. If you put
your entry in the notebook, you will not have to call in to enter.
Please
do not call the individual rodeo committees if you did not get entered in a rodeo - they can not help you.
The
only way to enter a rodeo is through the Entry Secretary and/or the Rodeo Entry book.
You pay your rodeo entry fees when you arrive
at the rodeo.
The entry fees are $35 for cutting, $25 per person
for team roping and $30 for all other events.
If you want to draw
out your entry for a rodeo, you must do so by 6:00pm Sunday before the rodeo you want to draw out. If you
draw out after that time, you must pay all entry fees before entering next rodeo.
Medical and
Vet Releases need to be called to secretary before 6:00pm on Friday prior to the rodeo - I need that information
prior to leaving on Friday evening. If you Vet Release at the rodeo, your vet needs to fax me a letter on business letterhead
Monday following the rodeo or you will be responsible for entire entry fees.
Fax # is the same
as the entry #620-286-9438.
If you enter a rodeo and don't show up to compete, you must pay all entry fees BEFORE you will be allowed to enter/compete in another rodeo.
Absolutely no entries will be accepted after entry
closing date for whatever reason.
Rodeo Draw
The draw for each
rodeo will be posted on the website the Wednesday night before the rodeo.
The order of events
is not always the same at each rodeo.
Be sure and check
the order of events when you arrive at the rodeo.
Rodeo Attire

rodeo attire one hour before the performance until the end of the performance each day.
Your back

Event
Points
Event points are awarded as follows:
1st - 10
2nd - 9
3rd - 8
4th - 7
5th - 6
6th - 5
7th - 4
8th - 3
9th - 2
10th - 1
These points are
awarded regardless of how many contestants are in the event.
A contestant is
only allowed to carry points from half of the rodeos on the schedule to the state finals.
Example:
If There
are 14 rodeos in the spring
16 rodeos in the
fall
making a total of
30 rodeos for the season
A contestant
can only take points from 15 rodeos.
The maximum points
would be 150 points (15 rodeos x 10 points).
The example below
shows a contestant's points from the 30 rodeos.
I have marked when
the lowest pointed rodeo would be dropped off.
The remaining 15
rodeos are the ones with the most points
The third row represents
when that rodeo was dropped.
The 1st rodeo
was dropped after the 22nd rodeo.
The 2nd rodeo was
dropped after the 20th rodeo and so on.

All Around Points
All around state
points are computed much differently than event points.
This information
is from page #35 of the 2003-2004 rulebook.
In each event there
are 500 points possible plus 5 points for each contestant in an event.
Example:
Calf roping has 44 contestants. 500 points + 220 (44x5)= 720 points all around points available in calf roping.
The percentages
used to award all around points are
1st - 29%
2nd - 24%
3rd - 19%
4th - 14%
5th - 9%
6th - 5%
Using the points
from my example above 1st place in calf roping would receive 208.8 all around points (720 x 29%).
Only contestants
placing 1st - 6th receive all around points.
Rookie points are
figured the same as the all around points. A Rookie is a contestant who is a first year member of the NHSRA regardless
of what grade they are in.
All-Star Team Qualifications
I checked into how the Wrangler All-Star Team Members were selected
while I was at the Finals this year. They suggested that we put this information on the website because many people
don't know how the selection is done. This information is explained in more detailed on pages 103-105 of the 2003-2004
rulebook.
The Wrangler All
Star Team consists of the top two finishing underclassmen for the year in each event in each state and province will
unofficially earn a position on the wrangler team for the next year. The 2005/2006 All Star Team comes from the results
of the 2004/2005 rodeo season.
The 2005/2004 All
Star team will be notified by mail from the national office.
In order to officially be placed on the team, each member nominated
must rejoin the NHSRA by September 15 and be a member in good standing both nationally and on the state level.
In order to be officially placed on the team each member must
agree to wear their Wrangler All Star Team shirts only with Wrangler jeans when competing at any type of event regardless
of whether it is an NHSRA function or not.
The selection process begins with the events with the least
number of contestants to the greatest number of contestants.
Seniors from the 2005/2006 rodeo season are not eligible to
be nominated to the All-Star team of 2006/2007. If the first 2 placings are seniors, the members will be picked
for the next placings on down to 8th place. Example: If 1st, 2nd & 3rd place are seniors, the 4th &
5th place would be nominated to the All Star team.
A contestant can only be nominated from one event. If
a person qualifies in two events, the next person will be selected on down to 8th place. Example: If 1st
place cutting and 1st place calf roping was the same person, that person would be chosen for cutting and the 2nd and 3rd place
people in calf roping would be nominated.
Half & Half Tickets
Half and half tickets
will be sold at each rodeo performance.
One-half of the
money goes to help support the KHSRA Scholarship Fund and the other half goes to the lucky person with the winning
ticket. We hope everyone will participate and help support the scholarship fund. Who knows, you might be that lucky
winner!!!
